HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c449W
Mr. Wilshire

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) in each of the past five years, how much of the total spend on hospital and community health services has gone on(a) services to patients and (b) paying pensions and other payments to people no longer working for the national health service;

(2) in each of the past five years, how many people who no longer work for the national health service have been in receipt of payments from funds allocated to the provision of hospital and community health services.

Mr. Sackville

Retirement pensions are funded by contributory self-financing schemes which fall outside the hospital and community health services budget. The information requested on other payments to former NHS employees is not collected centrally.
