To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what assessment he has made of the way in which his Department has dealt with the two planning applications for the development of land at the Oystermouth bus station, Swansea.

Both applications have been dealt with in accordance with the statutory procedures.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many times he has agreed to an extension of time for the applicant to negotiate with Swansea city council on the proposed development at Oystermouth bus station, Swansea, after he had first called in the application.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will announce a date by which he will decide whether to order a public inquiry into the current planning application to develop the Oystermouth bus station, Swansea.

A decision on whether to hold a public inquiry will be made in the near future.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will indicate in relation to the current application before Swansea city council for planning consent at the Oystermouth bus station(a) the dates of any meetings he has had with any objectors, (b) those present at the meetings, (c) the dates of any meetings his officials have had with any objectors, (d) those present at the meetings with officials and (e) the number of representations he has had for the application to be called in; if he will place copies of the representations in (e) the Library; and when he made the decision to call in the application.

Several representations have been made including 15 in writing. It is not normal practice to 1003W place copies of representations on call-in references in the Library of the House. A decision to call in the application was made on 9 July 1992.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what discussions his officials have had on the current planning application regarding the Oystermouth bus station, Swansea with officials of Swansea city council.

§ Mr. Gwilym Jones
None apart from a response to a request from officers of Swansea city council on 10 July 1992 about any additional information required as a result of the call-in direction.
