§ Mr. Mullin
To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will list the names of those responsible for choosing magistrates for the borough of Sunderland and their lengths of service in each case.

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department if he will list magistrates in the borough of Sunderland by the wards in which they live.

Mr. John M. Taylor
The question cannot be answered without disproportionate cost. When seeking suitable candidates for appointment the Lord Chancellor expects all advisory committees to achieve a bench which is representative of the community it serves. To this end, he expects them to take into account geographical as well as other factors.
