§ Mr. CashTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to bring forward proposals to amend the electoral law, consequent to the Maastricht treaty.
§ Mr. Peter LloydDetailed arrangements for the provisions contained in the treaty to extend the right to vote and to stand as a candidate in European Parliamentary and local government elections to EC nationals in their country of residence have to be adopted unanimously by the Council of Ministers by 31 December 1993 and 31 December 1994 respectively. Until those arrangements have been agreed, we have no proposals for amending electoral law.
