§ 23. Mr. George HowarthTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his latest estimate of the amount of capital receipts being held by local authorities in England and Wales.
§ Mr. RedwoodIt is currently estimated that English local authorities held about £0.8 billion of usable capital receipts at the end of March 1992. In addition, authorities are estimated to hold over £5 billion of capital receipts which have been set aside as provision to meet credit liabilities.
Figures for Wales are a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
§ 28. Mr. EnrightTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the proposed financial settlement for local authorities for 1993–94.
