To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proposals he has for keeping Parliament informed of steps taken by the United Kingdom with a view to moving to the third stage of economic and monetary union.

§ Mr. Nelson
As clause 2 of the European Communities (Amendment) Bill makes clear, no notification of an intention by the United Kingdom to move to the third stage of economic and monetary union will be given to the Council of the European Communities unless a draft of the notification has first been approved by Act of Parliament.
