§ Ms. CoffeyTo ask the Secretary of State for Health what representations she has had from home owners, residents and local authorities about the funding to be made available for the implementation of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. YeoMany representations about community care funding have been received from individuals, home owners, local authorities and representative organisations. Announcements about funding for the personal social services in 1993–94, including resources for community care and their distribution, will be made in the context of this year's local authority expenditure settlement.

§ Mr. YeoThe role of health authorities in providing services for highly dependent people was reaffirmed in "Caring for People". As purchasers of health care, health authorities have a duty to secure the best possible services for all their residents, including highly dependent people, taking into account local circumstances, priorities and available resources.
