HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 cc430-1W
Sir Teddy Taylor

To ask the Prime Minister what steps he is taking to inform the public about the implications for them of the Maastricht treaty; and if he will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

Memoranda produced by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Her Majesty's Treasury outlining the content of the treaty have been published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office and are publicly available. The Government are considering whether to issue additional information about the treaty and its benefits.

Sir Teddy Taylor

To ask the Prime Minister how many letters he has received from the general public supporting a national referendum on the Maastricht treaty.

The Prime Minister

I have received approximately 700 representations supporting a national referendum on the Maastricht treaty.
