HL Deb 06 July 1992 vol 538 c64WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much money per annum is paid from the Social Fund to those waiting for payment of income support in arrears, and what percentage of the Social Fund budget for crisis loans this represents.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Henley)

In 1991–92 £7.6 million—representing roughly 20 per cent. of total crisis loan expenditure in that year—was loaned from the fund to people waiting to receive their first regular benefit payment. Separate figures for people awaiting income support payments are not available.
