Whether they have any view on the takeover by President Yeltsin of the former Soviet foreign and interior ministries and of the former Soviet KGB (and its files), and if so whether they have expressed that view to the present Russian administration and whether it has any bearing on the assistance they are willing to give to that administration.
The Earl of CaithnessWe regard the Russian Federation as the continuation of the former Soviet Union. These are internal matters for the Russian authorities to organise. Our relations with the Government of the Russian Federation will be conditioned by the policies which it follows.
