HL Deb 21 January 1992 vol 534 c21WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many diplomats now represent member states of the former Soviet Union in Britain, and which states, and in what numbers.

The Earl of Caithness

There are 52 diplomats in the embassy of the Russian Federation. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were under Soviet control until 1991, although Her Majesty's Government never recognised their incorporation into the Soviet Union. The Estonian Embassy currently has two diplomats, the Latvian Embassy one, and the Lithuanian two.
