HL Deb 20 January 1992 vol 534 c13WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What concerted action is or will be taken by them, their European partners and other allies, to prevent deportations from the occupied West Bank and further Israeli settlements there, in Gaza and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The Earl of Caithness

We announced on 3rd January that we deplored the latest deportations of Palestinians from the Occupied Territories and voted for UN Security Council Resolution 726, strongly condemning them. The British Ambassador and EC colleagues raised the issue at a meeting with the Israeli Foreign Minister on 6th January. We and our partners have also made clear on numerous occasions the strength of our opposition to continuing Israeli settlement in the Occupied Territories, which is illegal and obstructs the peace process.
