HL Deb 13 January 1992 vol 534 c3WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many of the houses recently repossessed by mortgage lenders were formerly council houses.

Baroness Blatch

This information is not available. The most recent data provided by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, which does not distinguish between loans for the purchase of local authority property and other property, demonstrates that fewer than 0.4 per cent. of all mortgage borrowers were dispossessed during the first half of 1991. Of borrowers with a local authority mortgage, the majority of whom purchased property from a local authority, only 0.06 per cent. became dispossessed during 1990–91.
