To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what has been the number of incidents reported to police in each year since 1980 in which it is believed that offences were committed by children believed to be under the minimum age at 'which they could be either cautioned or prosecuted;

(2) what was the number of incidents in each year since 1980 in which police identified the culprit or culprits as children under the age at which they could be prosecuted.

Information is not collected centrally on the number or type of offences committed by children under the age of 10 years, the minimum age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales.
