HL Deb 27 February 1992 vol 536 c13WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they have about the number of Tibetans now detained without trial on political grounds by the Chinese administration.

Lord Cavendish of Furness

The Chinese authorities do not admit to holding any political prisoners. The two British officials who visited Tibet last July were told that 89 people were in prison for counterrevolutionary offences.
