asked Her Majesty's Government:

  1. (a) how many applications have been received by the Secretary of State for Employment in respect of occupational pension or personal pension schemes pursuant to Section 123(1) of the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978, for the calendar years of 1989, 1990 and 1991;
  2. (b) upon how many of these applications the Secretary of State has been satisfied during the calendar years of 1989, 1990 and 1991 that he has WA 8 had a statutory obligation, pursuant to this section, to pay into the resources of the pension scheme out of the National Insurance Fund sums representing the unpaid relevant contributions and accordingly ordered the payment of same; and
  3. (c) what have been the total monies paid under this section out of the National Insurance Fund (previously out of the Redundancy Fund) to pension schemes during each of the calendar years of 1989, 1990 and 1991.
