§ Mr. MacleanNo Sir. It is already an offence under the Food Labelling Regulations 1984 for anyone to sell food bearing an expired "use by" date.
It is also an offence under the Food Safety Act 1990 to sell any food which is unfit for human consumption or which is not of the nature, substance or quality demanded by the purchaser, whether or not any date mark has expired.
