HL Deb 04 February 1992 vol 535 c7WA
Baroness Ewart-Biggs

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made in the United Nations Security Council towards terminating the United Nations Trusteeship Agreement in relation to Palau.

The Earl of Caithness

There has been no discussion of Palau in the Security Council since the adoption of Security Council Resolution 683 in December 1990. Palau continues to be discussed in the Trusteeship Council, which is expected to send a visiting mission to the territory in March. Her Majesty's Government hope that the people of Palau will, in due course, be able to complete the process of self-determination.
