HC Deb 03 February 1992 vol 203 c94W
28. Mr. Dunn

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what is the weekly burden of national insurance contributions on someone on one and a half times male average earnings.

Mr. Jack

Currently someone earning £490 a week pays £31.46 in national insurance contributions. If there were no upper earnings limit, a married man earning this amount would lose a further £9 off typical take-home pay of £360 a week.
