There is currently a skeleton staff on site supervising routine maintenance work. The controller appointed under section 85(1)(b) of the Criminal Justice Act 1991 and his secretary are also based at the prison.

As at 10 December, the numbers of staff at Bullingdon prison, in the grades requested, were as follows: officer grades—prison officers, senior officers, principal officers, night patrol and auxiliary officers—309; governor grades—eight; administrative and industrial grades—50; chaplains—three; medical grades—16; education staff and instructional officers—12; seconded probation officers—six. A contract for the provision of catering services was awarded to ARA Services plc in March. One member of the administrative staff is responsible for monitoring the contract.
