To ask the President of the Board of Trade how the decommissioning of nuclear-energy producing plants will be funded.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what were the annual profits and deficits for the British nuclear-generating industry for the last five years.

Mr. Eggar

Nuclear Electric plc, which is the only commercial nuclear generating company in England and Wales, has separately accounted for its operations only since 1989–80. Its annual report and accounts for the years since and including 1989–90 are available in the Library of the House of Commons. The same is true in Scotland of Scottish Nuclear Limited. Responsibility for that company rests with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
