HC Deb 08 December 1992 vol 215 cc590-1W
Mr. Michael

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his oral answer of 2 December,Official Report, column 253, what is the specific number of jobs that he intends to cut in the Export Credits Guarantee Department in Cardiff.

Mr. Needham

[holding answer 7 December 1992]: Following the privatisation of ECGD's insurance services business the number of posts remaining in Cardiff was projected in the 1992 public expenditure survey to fall from 196 to 165 over three years. The recent review of the distribution of ECGD's functions will lead to a further net reduction of 10 posts over that period. Efficiency improvements are likely to lead to further reductions in both London and Cardiff, but these have yet to be determined and will depend on the level of business.
