§ Mr. Alex CarlileTo ask the President of the Board of Trade how many megawatts were generated by wind farms in Great Britain in each year since 1989; and if he will make a statement about the future of wind energy generation in Great Britain.
§ Mr. EggarFigures for electricity generation from renewable sources of energy are now published annually in the "Digest of United Kingdom Energy Statistics". The first wind farms to be constructed in Great Britain have all become operational since the beginning of 1992 and have so far generated an estimated 17 GW hours of electricity. These figures are expected to increase rapidly as wind farms constructed under the non-fossil fuel obligation orders come on stream.
