§ Mr. Neil HamiltonThe aim of the deregulation initiative is to reduce significantly administrative and regulatory burdens on business. The removal of unnecessary regulation and administrative procedure and simplification of that which remains will allow businesses more time and freedom to respond to their customers' needs. This, together with the beneficial effect on prices and public borrowing as a result of lower compliance and enforcement costs, will benefit consumers as well as business.
