To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if he will bring forward legislation to prohibit the offering by newspapers of financial inducements to staff of banks and credit card companies to divulge confidential information about customers' accounts.

I shall consider what, if any, action needs to be taken when I have received and studied Sir David Calcutt's report on press self-regulation. Meanwhile, I have no plans for legislation.
