Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what proportion of the grant aid money devoted to the EC Perifra programme for peripheral regions with fragile economies has been allocated to areas in the United Kingdom where conversion of military bases to alternative industrial uses has been planned; if he will name the areas benefiting; and to what amount.

[holding answer 21 October 1991]: Grants for Perifra are available for various purposes including the economic conversion of areas affected by the new trade concessions to countries benefiting from the PHARE programme. On the United Kingdom Government's proposal, the European Commission has agreed to the following areas of the United Kingdom:
