§ Mr. FearnTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has had concerning the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency proposals to introduce a fee of £6 for the renewal of driving licences from the age of 70 years.
§ Mr. Chope[holding answer Friday 18 October 1991]: The proposal formed part of a detailed consultation process the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency held with appropriate organisations on the necessity for a comprehensive revision of the driver licensing fee structure because of demographic trends. Several representations about various elements of the new fee package were received. The majority were against introducing a fee for short period licences issued for medical reasons. This has now been removed from the proposals.
