HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c465W
Mr. Fearn

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has had concerning the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency proposals to introduce a fee of £6 for the renewal of driving licences from the age of 70 years.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer Friday 18 October 1991]: The proposal formed part of a detailed consultation process the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency held with appropriate organisations on the necessity for a comprehensive revision of the driver licensing fee structure because of demographic trends. Several representations about various elements of the new fee package were received. The majority were against introducing a fee for short period licences issued for medical reasons. This has now been removed from the proposals.
