HC Deb 21 October 1991 vol 196 c424W
Mrs. Ann Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement summarising the provision which is currently made within the national health service for deaf children; and what plans he has to improve that provision.

Mr. Dorrell

The wide range of service provision for deaf children embraces prevention, screening surveillance, diagnosis and treatment. These services are located partly in the community and partly in hospitals and are managed and delivered by a variety of professionals. It is for district health authorities to ensure that services develop in the light of their assessment of local health needs.
