§ Mr. EggarInformation on the number achieving one or more A-levels at grade C or above is not currently available. My hon. Friend may however be interested to know that 113,450 school leavers achieved one or more A-levels at grade E or better in 1978–79; in 1989–90, the last year for which figures are available, the number was 137,860. If he requires further information I will be happy to write to him once it is available.
In 1978–79, a total of 37,060 school leavers achieved three A-levels at grade C or better; in 1989–90, the last year for which figures are available the figure was 54,110.
