To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he has any plans to upgrade the North Downs link, and if he will make a statement.

British Rail is currently refurbishing the trains on the North Downs line. The section between Tonbridge to Redhill is being electrified and BR plans to electrify the remainder in 1993.
