HC Deb 18 October 1991 vol 196 c252W
Ms. Ruddock

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will estimate the number of daily journeys on the south London line of channel tunnel freight(a) between 8 am and 10 pm and (b) between 10 pm and 8 am in (i) 1993, (ii) 1998 and (iii) 2003, respectively.

Mr. Freeman

The only figures available were published by British Rail in March 1991. They envisage that by 1995 about half the channel tunnel freight trains (28 per day, taking both directions together) will use the south London line between Factory junction, Battersea and the Nunhead junction. Fourteen are expected to run between 0700 and 2300 hours and 14 between 2300 and 0700 hours.
