HC Deb 18 October 1991 vol 196 cc268-9W
Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what commitments his Department has given to Leeds Healthcare to cover any budget deficit in the current financial year of the Leeds General Infirmary Self Governing Trust and St. James' Self Governing Trust; and when he varied the instruction that all national health service trust budgets must be independently balanced;

(2) what commitments his Department has given to Leeds Healthcare to fund budget deficits of the LGI trust and St. James' trust in the current financial year and 1992–93 and 1993–94, respectively.

Mr. Dorrell

The Department makes allocations to regional health authorities and it is for them to allocate to individual district purchasers. It is a statutory requirement that all NHS trusts must break even one year taken with another.

Mr. Battle

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether the annual remuneration figures for salaries and all benefits of all national health trust board members and senior managers will appear in the annual report of trust hospitals.

Mr. Dorrell

I refer the hon. Member to the reply that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State gave to the hon. Member for Livingston (Mr. Cook) on 21 May at column443.
