To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what proportion of Ministry of Defence freight is being carried by(a) road and (b) rail; and if he will make a statement.

As I told the hon. Gentleman in my written answer of 15 July, the vast majority of the Department's freight is moved by road. A detailed breakdown of the proportions of freight moved by road and rail could not be provided without incurring disproportionate cost.
