§ Mr. Peter LloydWe launched a national publicity campaign in January with the aim of recruiting an additional 10,000 special constables over three years, and enhancing public awareness of the role and value of the special constabulary. A pilot scheme of paying a bounty to special constables is shortly to be launched in a number of forces, to assess the effect on recruitment and retention.
