1. Expenditure is given in cash terms, rounded to the nearest £1,000; it includes provision from within the Department of the Environment's urban programme, and covers nursery, primary, secondary and special education.
2. Outturn information for 1990–91 and forecast outturn for 1991–92 is not available.
3. Expenditure column totals are not necessarily the same as grossed outturn totals.
4. The allocation figures for all years represent the initial allocations only. However, supplementary allocations were also given as follows:
£000s 1987–88 1988–89 1989–90 9,350 17,700 10,689 The above figures include supplementary allocations to both schools and FE. Most of the allocations would have been in respect of schools work but it is not possible to separately identify the schools figure for each LEA.
1990–91 1991–92 £24,097 £10,000 From 1 April 1990 there was a change in the system of the distribution of capital resources for education buildings. LEAs now receive annual capital guidelines. The above figures represent the schools component only of supplementary credit approvals issued after the ACG announcement in December.
