HC Deb 27 November 1991 vol 199 c547W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, further to his answer to the hon. Member for Broxtowe (Mr. Lester),Official Report, 20 November, column 267, if he will undertake to review bilateral aid to Indonesia.

Mrs. Chalker

The Government, in welcoming the Commission of Inquiry established by the President of Indonesia, have indicated that they wish to see the investigation carried out promptly, fully and fairly. We have urged that those members of the armed forces responsible for the shootings in East Timor earlier this month should be brought on trial. Together with our Community partners, we will consider the position, including that on aid, in the light of the written report of the commission of inquiry.
