To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer on how many occasions since the Criminal Justice (International Co-operation) Act 1990 came into force its powers have been invoked to work with foreign customs services to intercept illegal arms or military equipment transfers; what has been the cost to date of implementing the Act; and if he will make a statement.

[holding answer 21 November 1991]: Three requests which are arms related have been received by HM Customs. The directly identifiable costs to Customs of handling these requests has been approximately £45,000.
