To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department proposes to take any action to permit the payment of local enhanced severance payments following the judgment in the case of Allsop v. North Tyneside metropolitan borough council.

I understand that the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside has appealed against the judgment. The matter is therefore sub judice.
