To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many schools in Northern Ireland have applied for local management of schools; and if he will make a statement.

Schools in Northern Ireland do not apply for local management of schools. From 1 April 1991, all controlled and maintained nursery, primary and secondary schools but excluding special schools have been funded on the basis of a formula. All secondary schools and colleges of further education have fully delegated budgets.
