HL Deb 06 November 1991 vol 532 c12WA
Lord Elton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What will be the national non-domestic rate poundage for 1992–93 and the distributable amount of non-domestic rates which will flow from this.

Baroness Blatch

We propose that the national non-domestic rate poundage for England should rise by 4.1 per cent., the September increase in the retail price index giving a poundage for 1992/93 of 40.2p. We believe this is fair and reasonable. It reflects the Government's success in reducing inflation, and will demonstrate to business the benefits of the uniform business rate. We propose that the distributable amount of non-domestic rates income will be £12,306 million.
