§ The Attorney-GeneralThe United Kingdom has no jurisdiction concerning any offence of murder committed by a foreign national in Chile. Since 29 September 1988 the offence of torture has been justiciable in this country wherever it might have taken place, by virtue of section 34 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988. The Act has no retrospective effect.
