HL Deb 22 May 1991 vol 529 c11WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will resist any European Community legislation designed to counter the Arab boycott of Israeli goods until such time as Israel fully respects the Fourth Geneva Convention in all its occupied territories.

The Earl of Caithness:

We deplore the boycott but have no proposals for legislation against it. Companies should be free to act in accordance with their commercial judgment. Israeli policies in the Occupied Territories are a separate issue. The provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention apply there and Israel should respect them.
