HC Deb 20 May 1991 vol 191 c365W
Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the level of central Government contribution to Renfrewshire Enterprise in the current financial year; and what criteria he has applied to its expenditure.

Mr. Allan Stewart

Following consideration of the business plan submitted by Renfrewshire Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise has decided to allocate a budget in 1991–92 of £28.834 million, inclusive of training allowances. Allocations to local enterprise companies, and the criteria used to determine them, are matters for Scottish Enterprise.

Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make additional resources available to promote tourism within Renfrewshire; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Allan Stewart

The Scottish tourist board is happy to consider any applications from the Renfrewshire area for financial assistance towards the capital development of tourism projects. The promotion of tourism in Renfrewshire also benefits from the district council's membership of the Greater Glasgow tourist board, which receives financial support from STB.
