Mr. Cash

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list those bodies currently with agency status within his Department under the next steps initiative; and whether he has identified any further candidates for agency status under the initiative within his Department.

Miss Widdecombe

The agencies currently established within the Department are:

  • The Benefits Agency, established in April 1991;
  • The Contributions Agency, established in April 1991;
  • The Information Technology Services Agency, established in April 1990;
  • The Resettlement Agency, established in May 1989.
  • We plan to establish the Child Support Agency in early 1993.
