To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on how many occasions in the last 20 years representatives of his Department have been in private communication with the chairman of the Civil Service appeal board.

I am aware of only one occasion when representatives of the Department have been in private communication about undisclosed matters that could be material to the outcome of an appeal.
