HC Deb 09 May 1991 vol 190 c580W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is his estimate of the number of second-hand cars permanently exported from Great Britain to Northern Ireland for which the car owner has to apply for a new road fund licence document; and what is the average period of time between application for such documents and their being posted to the new owner.

Mr. Needham

In 1990, the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland received applications for new vehicle registration documents for 16,675 previously registered vehicles permanently imported to Northern Ireland from Great Britain. The average time between receipt of a valid application and issue of the new registration document is 10 working days.
