HC Deb 08 May 1991 vol 190 c498W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the number of specialist hospital paediatric pathologists in national health service hospitals in each year since 1985; and if he will express this as an average figure for each such hospital offering paediatric services.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

One of the national service objectives for 1990–91 was for all regions to have at least one paediatric pathologist post and to have conducted a review of the need for further posts to be established by 1992. All regions have met this objective, although one region has had difficulties in filling its vacant post.
