HC Deb 08 May 1991 vol 190 cc474-5W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimates he has made of the amount of carbon dioxide which may be emitted from the existing heavy goods vehicle fleet during its remaining lifetime.

Mr. Chope

The latest available figure is 28,000 tonnes per annum for 1988 and relates to total carbon dioxide emissions from all road vehicles. No breakdown of this figure between vehicle types is available. The remaining life of the existing heavy goods vehicle fleet depends on varying factors and cannot be predicted with accuracy.
