HC Deb 08 May 1991 vol 190 c476W
Mrs. Mahon

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps to safeguard minority interests and human rights in Bangladesh his Department has taken with reference to (1) the protection of tribal people in Chittagong hill tracts, (2) the protection of non-Muslim temples, churches and relics, (3) the exodus of Bengalese to India to escape harassment and (4) the Enemy Property Act.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Through our regular contacts with the Bangladesh Government, I know that they are well aware of the importance we attach to respect for human rights, including the rights of minorities.
