To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on progress being made by his Department on its investigation on the operation of the system of personal sequestration in Scotland; and if he will list those persons and organisations so far consulted.

The evaluation is in its final stages. Officials have discussed the operation of the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 1985 with various organisations and individuals, but there has been no formal consultation process. Those who have helped include:
